Welcome to the Mecca

I am looking forward to my first season as captain of Crosskeys and it’s a great honour to be selected by my teammates for this coming season.

I had quite a couple of practice speeches last season due to the busy life of captain Ian Slade, but we’re are going to miss Ian this season as he is due to have an operation on his hip, and on behalf of all at the club I’d like to wish you a successful operation and a speedy recovery – old age doesn’t come on its own !

Also would like to congratulate Ian on captaining Wales Indoor during the winter,  the club are proud of what you have achieved.

Last season we only just survived relegation from Division 1,  this year I am hoping we can improve and strive to reach the top half of the table instead of the bottom half which we have become too familiar with in recent years. I’m sure with the right determination, drive and commitment, this is something well within our reach.

I would like to congratulate Paul Watkins and Gareth Preece on their success in the Senior Pairs last season winning the Monmouthshire competition and a narrow defeat in the semi-final of the Welsh.

I’d like to take the time to thank Deb and the ladies for all the hard work they do for us throughout the summer,  on behalf of all members,  thank you.

Finally I’d like to wish everyone all the best for the season both on and off the green, in all competitions.

See you soon,
